Ember Carmilla Carousel

Ember Carmilla Carousel is a multidisciplinary artist, and studio founder based in South Carolina. With over a decade of experience working across painting, mixed media, fabrication, and body art, her practice is rooted in the belief that creativity is both a personal language and a communal act.

Her visual work draws heavily from gothic, surrealist, and Renaissance influences, often blending dreamlike symbolism with raw emotional realism. Themes of identity, transformation, embodiment, and belonging appear throughout her paintings and installations, reflecting both personal narrative and collective experience.

In addition to her studio practice, Ember operates Ember Carousel Studios — a hybrid creative space that hosts exhibitions, performances, tattoo sessions, and collaborative events. The studio functions as a hub for artists, musicians, and creatives, reflecting her deep commitment to fostering community and creating environments where people feel seen and safe to express themselves.

Ember’s work extends beyond traditional mediums into writing and storytelling, including her ongoing literary project Bordello of War, further exploring the psychological and mythic dimensions present in her visual art.

At the core of her practice is a simple philosophy: art is a form of connection — between body and self, artist and audience, and individuals within a shared space.
